Activ8’s Giro Jersey Design Judge, Philip Deignan, determined to return to Italian race

Philip Deignan-webWhat keeps a top notch athlete going game after game, bout after bout, race after race? Spirit, determination, resilience, and resolve—fitting descriptors of elite cyclist and recent Activ8/Giro d'Italia Jersey Design Competition judge, Philip Deignan.

A bicycle training crash in mid-February had broken Philip's right collarbone, jeopardising his chance to participate in this year's Giro d'Italia cycling race.

Not one to let an injury hold him back, Philip made a return to cycling with the Team Sky squad in early April—his collarbone holding up well. Fortitude and hard work has led the cyclist to be optimistic about a place at the starting line at the prestigious Italian race in May.

Now in his tenth year as a professional cyclist, Donegal's Philip Deignan is the first Irishman to ride in the Team Sky colours. Philip enjoyed a top racing result in the USA Pro Challenge last year. Here's wishing Philip all the best of luck in racing in Italy this year!
