Paralympic double Gold medallist Michael McKillop has opened a new playground at Holy Family PS in Omagh, which contains part of the London 2012 Olympic Park.

Colourful matting laid by Lagan Construction Group when it built the £18 million Central Park Bridge close to the Olympic Stadium was re-laid in the school after it won an exciting competition run by Lagan Construction Group, in conjunction with Sport Northern Ireland.

Activ8 Adventure visits Whiteabbey Primary School

whiteabbey newsSport Northern Ireland’s Chief Executive, Antoinette McKeown, visits Whiteabbey Primary School to see the Activ8 Adventure roadshow in action. Teacher Craig Knight and P5, P6 and P7 pupils enjoy the adventure ropes course, taking part in fencing, archery and boccia, and putting their ABCs (agility, balance and coordination) to good use.

ards news storySport Northern Ireland Activ8 Wildcats Clubs are back in action for the new school term and the young cubs in Ards have celebrated with an Activ8 Festival.

North Down and Ards Borough Council Active Communities Coaches and the Sport Northern Ireland Activ8 team created a fun festival of sport in Ards Leisure Centre with a wide variety of games and activities, and multi-skill sports as well as boccia, tug-of-war and archery.

Inspiring a New Generation of Sporting Heroes

jsambassador news“You could be our next sporting hero!” This was the message from Sport Northern Ireland Chief Executive Antoinette McKeown as she joined Paralympic Gold medallist Jason Smyth at the launch of Sport Northern Ireland’s Sporting Ambassador programme.

On a visit to his former primary school, Eglinton PS in L’Derry, Jason was enrolled as the first ever “Sporting Ambassador”.

Olympic and Paralympic Games Legacy lives on for One lucky Activ8 School!

When Northern Ireland’s Lagan Construction was awarded the £18 million Central Park Bridge close to the Olympic Stadium, they were also made responsible for removal of the colourful rubber matting deck to ensure its use in legacy mode.
