Activ8 Reaches New Heights at Podium4Sport

For the past 8 months the Activ8 Olympic Challenge high wire assault course has been travelling around Northern Ireland visiting schools and events but is now open in Podium4Sport, Montgomery Road, Belfast until the end of February.

On the Activ8 Olympic Challenge high wire course, young people aged 8-11 can enjoy the challenge of cargo ropes and surging the rope bridges.
The course is the perfect way, in a safe environment, to give a taste of the types of sporting activities available at the Tollymore National Outdoor Centre in Newcastle, Co. Down.

The Activ8 Olympic Challenge is free of charge, fully supervised by qualified Activ8 staff and is open from 2.30pm-5.30pm weekdays and all day at weekends.

Activ8 Young Leaders 2012!

a8ylomaghThe Activ8 Young Leaders programme for 2012-13 is up and running, with over 100 young people involved across three areas – Greater Belfast, Omagh and the North West. 

Training sessions in Active Leadership have been delivered to over 100 young people from twelve schools across Northern Ireland. The Activ8 Young Leaders will put their newly acquired skills and knowledge to the test by promoting sport among their classmates and members of their school community.

Following an exciting and inspiring summer of sport, an energising new initiative, designed to promote healthy and active lifestyles to children, is now available for all primary schools in Northern Ireland.

The Activ8 Eatwell initiative includes a comprehensive teaching resource, which encourages a whole school approach to learning about the importance of eating well and keeping active to stay healthy.

Activ8 Kids go Wild for Sport!


Primary school children from across Northern Ireland came together for an exciting day of sport on Saturday (27 October) when they were joined by Ulster Rugby star Paddy McAllister and the Sport Northern Ireland Activ8 Wildcats Twist and Bounce.

Paddy and the Wildcats were there to congratulate and encourage over 50 children who had travelled to the Activ8 Wildcats Multiskills Festival at the Lagan Valley Leisureplex, Lisburn, for a taste of competitive action.
These children had come along with their Activ8 Wildcats clubs and coaches from Moira, Banbridge, Lisburn, Castlereagh, Holywood, Bangor, Cookstown, Cullyhanna and Carryduff.

Activ8 Wildcats Going for Gold!

mckillop sthereseDouble gold medallist Michael McKillop and Sport Northern Ireland’s Activ8 Wildcats are looking for new members to join their club! The Paralympic star and Activ8 Wildcats Twist and Bounce visited St Therese of Lisieux Primary School, Belfast, on a mission to show pupils how much fun they can at their afterschool club.

Michael McKillop said: “I’ve been having a brilliant time getting fit and healthy with the Sport Northern Ireland Activ8 Wildcats, Twist and Bounce! I would love to see more children signing up to a Wildcats Club where they live.
