Activ8 Kids go Wild for Sport!

Primary school children from across Northern Ireland came together for an exciting day of sport on Saturday (27 October) when they were joined by Ulster Rugby star Paddy McAllister and the Sport Northern Ireland Activ8 Wildcats Twist and Bounce.

Paddy and the Wildcats were there to congratulate and encourage over 50 children who had travelled to the Activ8 Wildcats Multiskills Festival at the Lagan Valley Leisureplex, Lisburn, for a taste of competitive action.
These children had come along with their Activ8 Wildcats clubs and coaches from Moira, Banbridge, Lisburn, Castlereagh, Holywood, Bangor, Cookstown, Cullyhanna and Carryduff.

Speaking at the event, Paddy McAllister said:

“Activ8 Wildcats Clubs teach children the basic but very important skills performed in any sport, such as running, throwing and jumping.
“The children really enjoyed the Multi-skills festival, with their fun warm-up led by Fitness Freddie, and then competing in the various events, which allowed them to put the skills they have picked up at their Wildcats Clubs to the test.”

The rugby star continued:

“We hope that each child that who competed in the Multiskills Festival will go on to further develop their skills and be able to apply them to a specific sport, join a club and soon become stars in their own right!”

Twist and Bounce were accompanied by Activ8 Young Leaders from St Dominic’s, Belfast, and many parents who were on hand to help out and cheer the children on. After a long morning of fun everyone who took part received a Wildcats pack and a certificate from Paddy McAllister.
The winning team, made up of children from Cookstown and Cullyhanna, were presented with the Festival trophy.
There are over 50 Activ8 Wildcats Clubs held at various venues throughout Northern Ireland running in eight-week blocks throughout the year.
