Activ8 Young Leaders 2012!

a8ylomaghThe Activ8 Young Leaders programme for 2012-13 is up and running, with over 100 young people involved across three areas – Greater Belfast, Omagh and the North West.

Training sessions in Active Leadership have been delivered to over 100 young people from twelve schools across Northern Ireland. The Activ8 Young Leaders will put their newly acquired skills and knowledge to the test by promoting sport among their classmates and members of their school community.

Through this programme Sport Northern Ireland hopes to develop the leadership skills & qualities of young people, get more people into sport, physical activity and PE and increase the number of people in sports/activity clubs.

The Young Leaders from St. Dominic’s, Belfast have already had an experience of helping out at a large sporting event, as they were involved in the running of the Activ8 Wildcats Multiskills Festival on 27th October at Lagan Valley Leisureplex, Lisburn. Right at the start of the programme they were able to put their skills into practise and demonstrate their enthusiasm for sport and physical activity.
