Activ8 Eat Well - The Perfect Recipe for a Healthy 2014

juggler newsSport Northern Ireland Activ8 60x60 Eatwell Challenge - The Perfect Recipe for a Healthy 2014

Now entering its sixth year, Activ8 is a participation campaign which encourages children and young people to do 60 minutes of physical activity every day to keep healthy.

Helping to bring Activ8 to life, Sport Northern Ireland developed several programmes and joined up with the Food Standards Agency in Northern Ireland to develop Activ8 Eatwell, a programme designed to promote healthy and active lifestyles to children in primary school.

Last year, more than 100 primary schools registered for Activ8 Eatwell and implemented the resource manuals for Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.

A new and exciting development for 2014 sees the Activ8 Eatwell 60x60 online Challenge complement these resources.

Activ8 Eatwell 60x60 challenges schools and their communities to be active every day, for at least 60 minutes for 60 days. Pupils, teachers, parents and friends will record their physical activity on and their physical commitment will take them through a virtual journey.

As we kick start 2014 one of Sport Northern Ireland’s priorities is to increase children’s understanding of the relationship between physical activity and healthy eating, especially at a time when obesity is still a major health issue. The Activ8 Eatwell 60x60 Challenge promotes healthy eating and physical activity in an interesting and fun way.
